Teaching Christianity

Teaching Jesus' Words

Welcome to ‘Teaching Christianity”. Why do I call this section “Teaching Christianity” ? it’s because that’s the whole purpose of the site. My calling is to teach people what it means to be a Christian? I do not teach from a denominational viewpoint. I teach what Jesus taught and from a historical viewpoint. I am a Christian historian and a follower of the resurrected Jesus.

I believe that modern Christianity is suffering and declining because we have forgotten what it means to be a Christian. Churches no longer teach the Gospel and very few ministers ever teach about the foundations of Christianity. I believe there are many reasons for this, and one of them is because many pastors and ministers aren’t comfortable with the reality of history and how we can learn to grow the church from the examples set by the early Christians. I truly believe that if we don’t get back to our roots, the church is in serious trouble.

Between 184 AD and 284 AD, the Roman empire was lead by people who were narcissistic and in love with power and as a result, the empire fell into chaos. Today’s Western church seems to be falling into the same patterns. Church leaders are more concerned with political power, secular wealth, and their own prestige, than they are in fulfilling the great commission as directed by Jesus. As he spoke in Matthew 28:19-20

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you;
and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

It’s time we got back to “teaching” and away from “preaching”
